Why You Need Restaurant Insurance ?

Just like any other commercial business, it is very important that every restaurant owner carry a specially designed restaurant insurance policy. There are many different liabilities that will come with restaurant ownership, and it is important to make sure that you are protected from each and every one, some of them more obvious then others. Without the proper insurance, the owner could lose everything with just a single fire or accident. Any agent will be able help you find the right policy for your restaurant, and there are a few things you want to check to make sure it has.

You will obviously expect your policy to cover physical property damages, that are caused by natural disasters, vandals or burglary, or accidents. This would mean flooding, a fire, purposeful property destruction caused by someone, or accidental negligence by the owner or an employee. Other obvious things can fall into this category as well, such as obvious theft, robbery, or tornadoes and such. Although these are the obvious things, there are many more possible occurrences that will require coverage as well.

Customer liabilities, such as food contamination, food allergies, being over served, or other accidents can be dangerous to a restaurant owner as well. All of these things could result in a law suit, where the owner could pay high costs, and even possibly lose the business. You never know when food could get accidentally left out, because of lack of communication, or someone has an allergic reaction to food they have been served. Also, floors can get slippery in snow or rain causing someone to slip, or hot coffee can get spilled, causing burns and injury. If someone has too much to drink, and goes out and gets into an accident, this could also be the restaurants fault without the proper coverage to protect them.

Other things you will want to be included in your policy are employee injuries, and loss of business income insurance. Every possible way that you are going to be able to protect yourself, is going to be necessary. For businesses that have company cars, or a valet service, additional coverage will also be required. For any of these things to happen to a business owner, not having the proper restaurant insurance policy could result in fees, and possibly bankruptcy. Restaurant insurance is necessary to protect business owners from every day occurrences, and cannot go overlooked.
